The girl looked in the mirror and thought,
“I don’t like what I see.
Oh God, please change my appearance
and bestow more beauty on me.”





God would not change her features, though.
“Of you I’ve made them part.
But changes I can make for you
are all within your heart.”





“I will remove all hatred there,
replace it with my love.
And you will feel a peace that’s like
the gentleness of a dove.





An inner beauty you will feel,
a growth within your soul.
The cleansing of the inner self
Will make your being whole.





And though no physical differences
will on your face be seen,
the glow that beams forth from your soul
provides a beauty screen.
