From his history book the youth looked up,
Turned to his father, and said,
"Could you tell me where God abides,
If He is alive now or dead?"

"How can I answer," the father thought,
These questions of curious youth?
"Give answers to things that we can't understand,
Of what is pure myth or plain truth?"

"In the beginning God created the universe,
The heavens, the earth and the sky.
"We only know that it came about
We know not the how nor the why."

"Was God there before the beginning", he asked,
To create, how much time did he spend?"
"Maybe there wasn't a beginning,
And perhaps there will not be an end."

"Was there a beginning, a start up of time"
Do we know that there's really an end?
Or will both beginning and ending of all
Each mesh with the other and blend?"

"Thus forming a ring that eternally moves
Through an unending time frame and space.
Of a start or a finish, beginning or end
No appearance of even a trace."

Mankind has argued since the first dawn of light
And varying theories abound
Of the manner in which creation occured.
Answers true are still sought to be found.

The biblical story in Genesis has stated
God worked in a mere six day span
Some six thousand years ago it occured
Preceding the appearance of Man.

In the range of some fifteen billion years,
Give or taking a billion or so,
The big bang took place, so the scientists say
This much they can claim they now know

"And so, keep on thinking and searching
No matter what's said or who said it.
You can reconcile all of their theories,
As long as you give God the credit."
