If tremors in the earth are felt,
fear not, stay calm, be brave.
It's only the "founding fathers"
turning over in their graves.
Our nation was built on faith in God,
a sight men should not lose
and all were free to worship God
in a manner that they choose.
Our leaders were concerned about
separation of church and state.
They feared that power of the church
might grow to be too great.
But the cycle has taken a twisted turn,
with a different message sent.
It was not what they had in mind,
it was not their intent.
The founders all would be appalled
by the secular trend today;
we could "infringe on another's rights"
by innocuous things we say.
"Under God" must be left out of the pledge,
from our coins, "in God we Trust".
religious icons have to go;
To this we must adjust.
When a person sneezes, I would predict
the sneeze might be outlawed,
If another responded with "God Bless You'
(the thinking is THAT flawed)
A nation without God is like
a derelict craft would be--
rudderless, without guidance, on
a menacing, stormy sea.
