On the side of a hill stood a wooden framed house
That Daddy built with his own two hands
And though no longer there the foundation remains
It's the hope on which our family still stands

That old house was filled with love
Build on higher ground to withstand the flood
Mommy kept us safe there night and day
By pleading Jesus' precious blood

With twelve children to feed
And poor from the start
Jesus gave here an extra portion
Of love in her heart

We were made to mind
And told "to others be kind"
And that "when you have the love of Jesus
Hope is not hard to find"

As we grew older, Daddy got sick
We could not be by his side
Mommy plead the blood over all of us
And lead him to Jesus before he died

We know Daddy strayed
But his peace with God was made
And that's all the comfort
That we need

Mommy raised the rest of us on her own
But we know now that she was not alone
For she had her Sweet Jesus
And His precious blood that she could plead

The hope of that foundation
In the house that Daddy made
Was all that Mommy ever asked for
That by grace we'd all be saved

My children and grands
I too plead the blood
and I tell them about Jesus
and of their Mama's love
