The deadly threat from terrorists
presents a constant fear-
like waiting for a nest of snakes
to strike from far--or near.

Our enemy does not present
a target well-defined.
He's cagy, he's elusive, with
a locale hard to find.

He's fueled by a constant source
of vitriolic hate.
He plans obliteration on
a blueprint of our fate.

But there's another danger from
within that eats away
our long established value's core
and leaves it to decay.

How can this nation to the world
its unity convey,
when weakened by corruption
that reveals our feet of clay?

So let's not choose the prurient paths
or lifestyles hedonistic,
but let's establish moral goals
more pure and idealistic.

If we're a nation "under God",
and seek His guiding hand,
our faith will give us strength to build
a strong, united stand.
