The sun descends and slowly disappears,
And shadows of the day blend with the night.
Then one by one the twinkling stars appear
And fill the sky with incandescent light.

The rays reflected from the hidden sun
Makes glossy shadows on the dew-wet lawn
To reach and touch the people passing by.
Whose shadows linger briefly, then pass on.

With break of dawn the birds begin to sing.
The rising sun has welcomed forth the day,
And warming rays will penetrate the sky,
Encouraging the dew to fade away.

The cycle moves through night to light of day,
As patiently the shadows wait to play.
