Steadily, slowly,
away from my grasp
There's a loosening
now of my grip
And just when I sense
that I'm back in control
I can feel it more
steadily slip.

What is it I dread
that when once it is lost
It never again
might be found.
I fear the results
of more memory drain
And a mind that is
no longer sound.

That most dreaded time
hasn't fully arrived,
And against it
I'll steadily fight.
But the slipping foretells
it is going to come,
Just as sure as the
day becomes night.

But with all of these facts
I am coming to terms.
The bell of Truth peals
loud and clear.
Tis the face of reality
that comes into view
There is nothing left
for me to fear.
