Gifts on That First Christmas Day


The stars brightly shone on that clear, chilly night,
The night when the Christ child was born.
His mother then held him making sure he was warm
Til the sun broke the dawn of the morn.





God gave to the whole of mankind this pure gift.
He was there at the time of the birth.
This innocent child was pre-destined to spread
God's message while here on the earth





Prophets predicted their Christ would appear
And show them the path of God's way.
And thus, it happened, the day of his birth
Became known as the first Christmas Day.





Then envoys arrived from the far and near lands
Bearing gifts for the small King of Kings
Their gifts signifyng great love and respect
Tis the message of truth that they bring





Thus dawned the tradition, the exchanging of gifts
On the morn of a new Christmas Day.
Just one simple gift that comes straight from the heart
Will your love to another portray.
