Easter's a time when great masses of people
Celebrate this most joyous season,
But Easter, we find, is seen through their eyes
For a variety of quite different reasons

Advertising by merchants most blatently implies
The symbol for Easter's a rabbit.
So mechanized toys, lots of candy and eggs
Become objects of worship by habit.

Ask any young child (and older ones, too)
What's the meaning of Easter most true?
"The Easter bunny lays a whole lot of eggs
And to your home brings them for you."

Asked why the stone from the grave where Christ lay
Was moved to leave open doors.
One child had an answer, "So the bunny could enter
And lay Easter eggs on the floor.

This kind of an answer is not so far-fetched
Some "Christians" can't even explain
If they really have faith in Christ's Resurrection,
And if He did not die in vain.

For kids it's not wrong to believe in a rabbit
Or in eggs that he's able to lay
If it's kept disconnected from the true Easter meaning
And it's just one more game that they play.
