Summer has turned mellow,
the evening time grows cold.
Autumn has turned Summer greenery
to apparel of red and gold.

Like butterflies the leaves flutter,
floating from the trees.
They cover the ground like a colorful afghan,
with each passing breeze.

Goldenrod and Asters
in a rich profusion spread.
The chirp of an energetic catbird
can be heard overhead.

As I look at this changing season,
contentedness abound.
I overflow with gratitude for natures
blessings that are all around.
